meet your hosts

Alia & Eric

There are some places that are so beautiful and peaceful that once you arrive, you won’t want to leave.  That’s how we came to own Columbia Gorge Highlands.  Looking for land with beautiful views around Hood River or White Salmon, we came across what was then called Husum Highlands Bed & Breakfast.  We came for a tour, and three hours later, found ourselves still sitting in Adirondack chairs absorbing the views of Mt Hood.  We simply didn’t want to leave. While no longer a bed and breakfast, we continue to host weddings as a way of sharing this beautiful place.

We are blessed be able to spend most of our days working in are garden and enjoying the columbia river gorge. Eric is a retired hospitality exec who is using his expertise to perfect the venue while Alia, an ER doc, removes his splinters (her gardening skills are quickly improving as well).  We love trail running, mountain biking, white white rafting, kiteboarding and enjoying good food with friends and family.  We live at Husum Highlands with our 3 kids (usually covered in mud), our kitty Speedy, our llama Lolly, 3 sheep and some chickens.  We guarantee there will be no muddy children present for your wedding but Lolly might come check out the ceremony.
